MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS COURSES WITH CHMAS
Mental health affects our emotional, psychological and social wellbeing which can have a detrimental impact on how we relate to the world and others in it. When we feel good about ourselves, we are more likely to manage stress, relate to others and work productively with less absenteeism.
CHMAS is able to offer the following courses to help you challenge attitudes to mental health, reduce stigma and to start up a mental health conversation. It could also be the starting point for you to become a Mental Health Champion for your workplace.
- QNUK Level 1 – Award in Mental Health Awareness (RQF)
- QNUK Level 2 – Award in Mental Health at Work (RQF)
- QNUK Level 3 – Award in Mental Health at Work (RQF)
These regulated courses are accredited through QNUK who an Awarding Organisation (AO) that is regulated by Ofqual, Qualifications Wales and CCEA Regulation in Northern Ireland and all the awards are valid for three years.
QNUK Level 1 – Award in Mental Health Awareness (RQF)
This is a four 4 hour course that is suitable for all employees, managers, leaders, human resources and occupational health staff. It is an inclusive workshop that aims to look at the following:
- What is mental health and how does it affect us?
- What is stigma and how can we reduce it?
- Stress and the effects on the individual.
- Common mental health conditions and risk factors.
- Sign posting and support.
- Improving mental wellbeing.
The course can either be delivered face to face or through online learning. The course costs £45 per person, which includes course manual and certificate. Group rates are also available so please get in touch to discuss your requirements.
QNUK Level 2 – Award in Mental Health at Work (RQF)
This is a one day course suitable for all employees, managers, leaders, human resources and occupational health staff who are interested in mental health awareness and providing support to others. This course will provide you with the skills and confidence to start mental health conversations and provide support to employees in a mental health crisis.
To achieve this the course will look at:
- What is mental health?
- Identifying ways to reduce stigma.
- Stress and effects of workplace stress on the individual.
- Common mental health conditions.
- Signposting individuals.
- Harmful coping strategies.
- Mental health conversations.
- Support in a mental health crisis.
- Improving wellbeing.

QNUK Level 3 – Award in Mental Health at Work (RQF)
This is a two day course suitable for managers, leaders, human resources and occupational health staff. It will give them the knowledge and confidence to start mental health conversations and provide support for employees experiencing a mental health crisis or ongoing mental ill health. It will identify the key legislation, regulations and codes of practice so that they can Champion mental health and lead positive workplace culture.
The course will achieve this by looking at the following topics:
- What is mental health?
- Identifying ways to reduce stigma.
- Key legislation, regulations and codes of practice.
- Stress and effects of workplace stress on the individual
- Common mental health conditions.
- How to support someone who is living with depression, anxiety, psychosis, personality disorder, bipolar and schizophrenia.
- Signposting individuals.
- Harmful coping strategies.
- Facilitating a non-judgemental mental health conversation.
- Support in a mental health crisis.
- Suicide and how to support a person in crisis.
- Improving wellbeing.
