HILL WALKING WITH CHMAS

Hill walking is an activity that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and ability. With the right guidance and the high quality instruction we provide everyone can enjoy the restorative powers of the hills and mountains under their own steam. Guided Walks

If you are new to hill walking and want to be guided through some spectacularly stunning scenery, whilst picking up some essential skills on the way, then our guided walking course is for you. Skills covered will include basic map reading, clothing and equipment selection, weather and emergency procedures. Our instructors are also full of knowledge on the local flora and fauna, and can orientate you to how the region’s history has influenced the landscape.

Guided walks are arranged on demand to suit your personal ambitions.

Equipment

You will need to provide your own personal walking kit but we will supply all safety equipment and maps and compass if required. A suggested kit list can be obtained from our ‘downloads page’.

Cost

A typical day will cost £180- £280 depending on location and group group size, which is split between the group members.

Fundamentals of Navigation

Perhaps you’ve been hill walking for a while but would like to feel more confident in your navigation, especially in mist or low cloud. On this course, our instructors will show you how to navigate off the beaten path, increasing your route options and ability to stay located. This course is designed to explain the basic principles without confusing jargon, whilst taking in some scenery at the same time!

Venues

For these courses we use own local Shropshire Hills, although we can travel further away if needed.

Equipment You will need to provide your own personal walking kit but we will supply all safety equipment, maps and compass if required. A suggested kit list can be obtained from our ‘downloads page’.

Available all year round as a private booking.

Cost

Our courses cost £50 per person to join or you can arrange your own course at dates to suit you (please contact us for a price).

Mountain Training – Hill Skills

CHMAS is pleased to offer the Mountain Training Hill Skills Course which is ideal for beginners to go off and enjoy walking in in open countryside and moorland. To find out more about this award then please click here.

Mountain Training – Mountain Skills
