Our Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Paediatric First Aid Course has been developed for people who work with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, creche & nursery staff and playgroup personnel. This 2 day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted.

Although we are obliged to follow a syllabus, the course will still be delivered with the REC ethos. This means you will have lots of fun as we deal with the following over the two days.
  • Assessment of the situation;
  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty;
  • Resuscitation;
  • Responsibilities and reporting;
  • Choking;
  • Common conditions – anaphylaxis, asthma & diabetes, febrile convulsions, fainting, meningitis and poisoning;
  • Foreign bodies (eyes, ears & nose);
  • Control of bleeding & shock;
  • Eye injuries;
  • Fractures & head injuries;
  • Heat and cold injuries; and
  • Burns.

Candidates are assessed by ongoing practical scenarios by the tutor throughout the course and by short multi choice question papers.

Successful completion of the course leads to a Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate, which is valid for three years.
