Our Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Emergency Paediatric First Aid Course is suitable for people aged 16+ who care for children in any professional setting (e.g. nannies, child-minders, nursery workers and au pairs). It is also for newly qualified early years childcare staff as it meets the guidelines and criteria laid down by the Early Years Framework Stage and complies with the Childcare Registration requirements.

Although we are obliged to follow a syllabus, the course will still be delivered with the REC ethos. This means you will have lots of fun as you learn how to deal with a baby or child who:
  • is unresponsive and breathing;
  • is unresponsive and not breathing, including the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED);
  • is choking;
  • is bleeding;
  • is suffering from shock;
  • is burnt or has a scald;
  • is having a seizure.
The course also includes details on accident reporting and administering medication for those working in a childcare setting.

Candidates are assessed by ongoing practical scenarios by the tutor throughout the course and by short multi choice question papers.

Successful completion of the course leads to a Rescue Emergency Care (REC) Emergency Paediatric First Aid certificate, which is valid for three years.
